Malodour Supplementation is a way to reduce your odour symptoms to a less intense state, and be able to give the patient a longer time free from odour issues. Supplementation decreases the amount of Trimethylamine in the urine and gut to help alleviate symptoms. No supplements will ' cure ' a malodour condition, they are simply used to run alongside a strict protocol diet which works well together.
Activated Charcoal :
Activated Charcoal is the most popular choice supplement chosen by Malodour sufferers. Activated Charcoal works by binding the toxins and drugs in your body instead of being absorbed into your bloodstream. Charcoal is made from Wood, Coal, and other substances. It becomes 'Activated Charcoal' when high temperatures combine with a gas or activating agent to expand its surface area.
Side Effects :
When you take Activated Charcoal by mouth, activated charcoal can cause.
- Black Stools
- Vomiting or Diarrhoea
Recommended Dosage :
Activated Charcoal - 750 mg taken 2 times daily
Vitamin B2 :
Vitamin B2 ( Riboflavin ) Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is one of the eight B-complex vitamins. Like other B vitamins, it plays a role in energy production in the body, but also has many other important uses. Vitamin B2 is a water-soluble vitamin that is flushed out of the body daily, so it must be restored each day. The best way to get this vitamin is by eating foods that are rich in riboflavin. Riboflavin is found in eggs, nuts, dairy products, meats, broccoli, brewer's yeast, Brussel sprouts, wheat germ, wild rice, mushrooms, soybeans, green leafy vegetables .Riboflavin is a vitamin that is needed for growth and overall good health. It helps the body break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats to produce energy, and it allows oxygen to be used by the body.
“Riboflavin is also used for the development and function of the skin, lining of the digestive tract, blood cells and other vital organs, Vitamin B2 has been proven to promote the activity of any available FMO3 Enzyme Activity. Due to the lack of Vitamin B2 in a malodour sufferers diet, the only way to get sufficient B2 dosage is by taking oral supplements.
Side Effects :
High dosage of B2 will result in high excretion of B2 through the urine, which will be bright yellow.
Recommended Dosage :
Vitamin B2 - 400mg taken 2 times daily
(metronidazole, amoxicillin, and neomycin)
Antibiotic Therapy is used to suppress the production of TMA producing bacteria in the Gut. to modulate or reduce the activity of gut microflora, and thus suppress the production of trimethylamine. Such treatment may be useful when dietary restriction needs to be relaxed (e.g., for important social occasions), or when trimethylamine production appears to increase (e.g., during infection, emotional upset, stress, or exercise) Antibiotics recommended for trimethylaminuria to suppress production of trimethylamine by reducing bacteria in the gut:
•neomycin – (500mg tabs 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7 days) appears to be the most effective against the bacteria in the gut that actually produce TMA from the choline in the food. This kills off most of the remaining microflora after the gut cleansing with lactulose. Another sufferer said that her doctor prescribed it for 30 days. NOTE, that you would need to be replacing your gut microflora with probiotics (the good microflora) to re-populate the gut with the proper healthy microecology.
• metronidazole - alternate antibiotic that is selectively taken up by anaerobic bacteria AND sensitive protozoa,
• amoxicillin - alternate antibiotic
Copper Chlorophyllin :
Chlorophyllin is very closely related to chlorophyll, the green pigment found in most plants that converts the sun’s energy and carbon dioxide to sugar and oxygen. Without chlorophyll there would be no oxygen, no food, no people and no incontinence. By adding sodium and copper to chlorophyll the pigment can be dissolved in water and becomes chlorophyllin.
Chlorophyllin has interested scientists and physicians for many years. It has been used to cleanse and accelerate the healing of open wounds, to decrease the inflammation in radiation burns and, principally, to decrease odor in patients with colostomies or who were incontinent of urine or feces.
Side Effects :
- Green Coloured Stools
Laxatives, such as LACTULOSE [2TBP], to decrease intestinal transit time may also reduce the amount of TMA produced in the gut. (2 TB once to cleans the gut within 24 to 48 hours or as needed. Repeat if total cleansing has not occurred): decrease intestinal transit time may reduce the amount of trimethylamine produced in the gut. Be careful because you don't want to have accidents in the wrong places. Don't overdo it or you may become dehydrated with diarrhea. A simple intestinal cleansing every once in a while helps get rid of the bad bacteria overgrowth.
